The Complete List of GTA 6 Features Rockstar Has Never Mentioned

An inventory of the gaps. Every system people assume is in GTA 6 because it was in GTA 5, with nothing published either way - and why the list is this long three months out.

This page is the inverse of every other page on this site. Instead of collecting what Rockstar has confirmed, it collects what the studio has never said anything about - because the unconfirmed list is where fabricated GTA VI content comes from, and it is much longer than most coverage implies.

Nothing on this page is a claim that a feature is absent. It is a claim that no statement exists. Most of these will turn out to be in the game; the point is that nobody currently knows.

Interface and presentation

  • No HUD of any kind has appeared in any official screenshot or trailer.
  • No minimap or map screen has been shown.
  • No weapon wheel or inventory interface has been shown.
  • No mission objective text has appeared.
  • No pause menu, settings screen or accessibility options list has been published.
  • No first-person mode has been mentioned, despite GTA V having one.

The HUD absence is the most systematic. Roughly a hundred official images with zero interface elements is a policy, not an accident, and it is why so little can be said about how the game plays despite how much has been shown.

The only technical statement Rockstar has made about GTA VI is that Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5, gameplay and cutscenes alike. That is one sentence, and it is doing an enormous amount of work.

Things assumed from GTA Online

A large amount of what people expect from GTA VI comes from GTA Online rather than from GTA V's single-player, and this is the most frequent source of confidently wrong expectations.

  • Owning and running businesses.
  • Purchasable properties with garages.
  • Vehicle insurance and recovery.
  • Daily or weekly activities.
  • Cosmetic purchase economies with currency.
  • Anything at all involving other players - Rockstar has described GTA VI as a single-player experience.

GTA Online is a separate product built over a decade after GTA V's design was set. Assuming its systems appear in GTA VI at launch is the single most common category error in GTA VI discussion.

What has actually been named

For contrast, here is the complete set of things Rockstar has genuinely named. It is short, and it is almost entirely drawn from edition copy rather than from gameplay marketing.

NamedWhere
Hunting, fishing and off-road trailsMount Kalaga description
Casting and reeling, in Gambit BaySqualo boat description
Hair, facial hair, makeup, nails, 50+ tattoosSalon and tattoo parlour descriptions

That is the honest inventory of confirmed activity in GTA VI as of August 2026. Eight entries, five of which exist because Rockstar had to describe what you get for $99.99.

How to use this list

  1. When you read a confident claim about a GTA VI system, check whether it is on this page. If it is, the claim has no source.
  2. Distinguish 'Rockstar has not said' from 'Rockstar has said no'. Almost everything here is the former.
  3. Expect most of this to be answered between August 27 and launch, in that order: reveal, then storefront pages, then reviews.
  4. Be most sceptical of specifics - numbers, lists and mechanics descriptions are the easiest things to invent and the hardest to check.

Why the list is this long three months out

It is worth understanding that this is normal for Rockstar rather than alarming. The studio has a consistent pattern of withholding system detail until very close to release, and it has done so for every recent title.

TitleWhen detailed system information arrived
GTA V (2013)Preview events roughly six weeks out; most detail at review
Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018)A series of Newswire features from about eight weeks out
GTA VI (2026)Extended look at twelve weeks; nothing else announced

GTA VI is currently ahead of GTA V's disclosure pace and behind Red Dead Redemption 2's. Neither comparison suggests anything is wrong; it suggests the information is coming, in the order it always comes.

The difference between silence and denial

This distinction is the most useful thing on this page, and it is routinely collapsed in coverage.

  • Rockstar has said GTA VI is a single-player experience. That is a statement, and it is the basis for concluding there is no launch online mode.
  • Rockstar has said nothing about first-person mode. That is silence, and it supports no conclusion at all.
  • Rockstar has said Trailer 2 was captured in-game on PS5. That is a statement, and it is the only technical claim available.
  • Rockstar has said nothing about frame rates. Silence again.

When you see a confident claim, ask which of those two categories it falls into. Almost everything contentious about GTA VI sits in the second, where the honest answer is that nobody knows.

The order the gaps will close

Based on how the last two Rockstar launches ran, these questions get answered in a predictable sequence, and knowing it saves a lot of speculation.

WhenWhat gets answeredSource
August 27HUD, combat in motion, mission framing, character switchingThe extended look
September-OctoberIndividual systems, if Rockstar runs feature articlesRockstar Newswire
Late OctoberInstall size, pre-load, editions detailPlatform storefronts
Early NovemberUnlock times, day-one patchNewswire and platform notes
Mid NovemberPerformance modes, accessibility, everything mechanicalReviews

Note where most of this page's list resolves: the last two rows. The systems people most want confirmed are the ones that historically arrive at review or later, which is why three months out the honest answer to most questions is still that nothing has been said.

Does GTA 6 have first-person mode?

Never mentioned. GTA V had one, added in its second console release, but Rockstar has said nothing about GTA VI.

Can you buy property in GTA 6?

Never mentioned. Jason's safehouse is described as belonging to Brian Heder.

What frame rate does GTA 6 run at?

Never stated. Rockstar has made exactly one technical claim - that Trailer 2 was captured in-game on PS5.

Will character switching work like GTA 5?

Unknown. GTA VI has two protagonists and Rockstar has never shown or described moving between them.

Why has Rockstar said so little?

It is the studio's consistent pattern. Detailed system information for previous Rockstar titles arrived in the final weeks, or at review.
